NBA Breakfast Special: Milwaukee’s Eric Bledsoe Problem

So, as would inevitably be the case, Lonzo Ball got himself a triple double, scoring 19 points on 7-of-12 shooting, dishing 13 assists, and pulling down 12 rebounds in a loss to the Bucks on Saturday. He became the youngest in NBA history to do it, at 20 years and 15 days, surpassing LeBron James. But have you noticed that Ball has had exactly two good games this season, and both involved his being guarded by Eric Bledsoe? After making Ball look like Russell Westbrook twice, you have to wonder if Bledsoe isn’t either washed up or else so disengaged …

NBA Breakfast Special: LiAngelo Ball’s Sunglass Hut

Look, I’m just going to leave this here and go eat some breakfast. I’ll be right back. 😎😂 (sound on) pic.twitter.com/KGg8bB1AVi — NBA on TNT (@NBAonTNT) November 10, 2017 OK, let’s get this show started. Lonzo Ball Is Still Garbage And Everyone Still Knows It OK, you all know how I keep calling Lonzo Ball “Dollar Store Westbrook” around here. Tonight was a prime example of why. Ball had 10 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists. And you’d see that and think “whoa, he almost got a triple-double, that’s great!” Until you realize he shot 3-of-12 from the field, 1-of-7 …

NBA Breakfast Special: Jeff Van Gundy Is A National Treasure

Jeff Van Gundy, national treasure, got assigned to a game that was competitive for about two quarters before the Golden State Warriors ran away with it in the second half to beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 125-101. The game was dull, a mismatch, an exposure of Minnesota’s greatest weakness—their Letter League-quality defense. Luckily, this gave the Notorious JVG a chance to take a good swipe at the Ball family; LiAngelo Ball got busted for petty theft in China, and that…well, see it for yourself: Jeff Van Gundy and Dave Pasch discussing the UCLA incident in China, and also college athletics. pic.twitter.com/llrdhqt1vs …

NBA Breakfast Special: Eric Bledsoe’s Sweet Release

Eric Bledsoe finally got what he wanted, and hopefully whichever hair salon in Milwaukee his wife chooses, he won’t have to tweet that he doesn’t want to be there. The former Suns guard got himself traded to Milwaukee in exchange for Greg Monroe and a protected first-round pick, so Phoenix essentially got nothing. The question for the Bucks becomes whether Bledsoe’s volume-shooting game, trouble staying healthy, and need for the ball will fit their offensive needs. It’s an open question. Meanwhile, the Bucks dropped to 4-6 with a 124-119 loss in Cleveland. Giannis Antetokounmpo had 40 points on 16-of-21, Khris …

NBA Breakfast Special: Dub Nation Defense

The Golden State Warriors are good at defense. Everyone always forgets this. Dub Nation got to see a slugfest at the Oracle Arena Monday night, as the Warriors beat Miami 97-80, dominating the boards 51-44 including a 13-7 edge on the offensive glass. They held the Heat to just 36.1 percent shooting from the field and limited Hassan Whiteside to only three points and six rebounds. Nobody on Golden State made more than five shots; all of their Big 4 made that many, but Stephen Curry missed 14 shots, Klay Thompson missed ten, Kevin Durant whiffed on eight, and Draymond …

NBA Breakfast Special: Kristaps Porzingis, Pacers Killer

Kristaps Porzingis might as well just grow a horn out his forehead and make it official, because the NBA’s unicorn just had one of those games where he did to the Indiana Pacers what Reggie Miller used to do to the New York Knicks all those years ago in the playoffs. Porzingis went for 40 points, including at one point scoring 15 straight Knicks points as they roared back from a 16-point fourth-quarter deficit in a game where they trailed by as many as 19, pulling out a 108-101 lead behind a 36-17 final frame. I mean, it’s pretty much …

NBA Breakfast Special: Lonzo Ball Still Sucks

Damian Lillard was a hero on national television. Lonzo Ball continued to live up to his moniker of Dollar Store Westbrook, managing to fail to score, get rebounds, and dish assists. Ball had zero points on 0-of-2 shooting as he got frozen out of the Lakers’ offense at a time when if he’d been as good as the idiot yahoo on Twitter who once tried to tell me that Ball would average a triple-double (this was after that game in Phoenix the first week of the season), Los Angeles might not have lost the game. Instead, Lillard did this… IT'S …

NBA Breakfast Special: LeBron’s Trauma to the Groin

Sing it with me folks, because LeBron just got “nothing’s quite as funny as a trauma to the groin” treatment from Lance Stephenson: If you haven’t seen it yet, well, shield your eyes… Lance Stephenson got a flagrant 1 for this shot to LeBron's groin. pic.twitter.com/nFs0o9lyTY — SportsCenter (@SportsCenter) November 2, 2017 On the bright side, Pacers Twitter had plenty of fun with it: Roses are red Women are thicc The Pacers are goodLance hit LeBron in the dick pic.twitter.com/TRLYfFqtgG — Miller Time Podcast (@MillerTimePod) November 2, 2017 The Pacers won 124-107, finishing the game on an 18-6 run in …

NBA Breakfast Special: The Pistons’ Letdown Game

When the Detroit Pistons had a big win over the Golden State Warriors on the road, it was only a matter of time before they suffered one hell of a letdown game. Sure enough, that deal with the devil came due on Halloween night, as Staples Center became a house of horrors against the Los Angeles Lakers. LA shredded the Pistons for a .495/.462/.786 slash line, shot 14 free throws to the Pistons’ 3, won the rebound battle 53-44 and the assist battle 30-21, and watched HERO OF SERBIA get a DNP-CD in a 20-point game (free the Boban!) Avery …

NBA Breakfast Special: Brad Stevens, Coach of the Year

Let us for a moment examine the Boston Celtics, a team that lost two of its best defensive players over the offseason, and let a couple of Pace and Space emeritus have their say: After the win against the Spurs, the #Celtics now rank 1st in defensive rating and 4th in D-rebounding %. Who would've predicted that? — Brad Winter (@BradWinter12) October 31, 2017 "Who is going to defend without Avery Bradley and Jae Crowder???!!!" https://t.co/6Yvoofn8ek — Zach d'Arbeloff (@swarbleflop) October 31, 2017 The Spurs have had a Halloween hayride this week, first losing to Indiana and now getting smacked …
